I’m sorry it was unclear for you! The ingredients list is what cooks together (3 cups water plus the grits). Then the additional water is just for bringing the pot to pressure to cook the grits, so that cup isn’t included in the recipe ingredients.

I’m glad you figured out a way you enjoy the grits! I always find that the grits set up and the soupiness is gone after they rest for 10 minutes or so.

Hi, the water amount in the recipe is for cooking the grits, so it’s the full three cups in the bowl. The other cup of water is needed to bring the pot to pressure and isn’t included in the ingredient list. I’m sorry for the confusion!
